3G & 4G auction in Pakistan prostponed to 23rd April

The upcoming 3G and 4G next generation spectrum licenses auction date has been announced as the 23rd April of this ongoing year, according to the latest release by the government of Pakistan.

This news came after a meeting chaired by Finance Minister Mr. Ishaq Dar.

Prior to this announcement, the auctions were declared to be opened from 7th April 2014, according to the Information Memorandum released for the 3G/4G auctions.

As per the new declaration by the Finance minister, the last date for sealed bidding is 14th April.

The license fee for the spectrum can now be paid in the Pakistani currency which was earlier announced to be in US dollars.

This time, it is declared that the issuance of new licenses is called off. The operator will continue their operations under the old licenses but will pay the new license fee and will also be entitled to the new rules and regulations.

Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, the PTA Chairman, revealed the latest happenings of the licensing procedure and highlighted that the arrival of next-gen technologies will surely offer optimized speeds and a plethora of new attributes along with a boost in job opportunities for the local youth.

Mr.Ishaq Dar ordered the telecom regulatory body to make sure that consumers are offered the best possible internet services in the country. He also mentioned that PTA should promote masses awareness program and provide facilities of international standards and quality 3G/4G services to the local users. He laid great stress on the timely indication of the entire licensing process keeping fair play and transparency in mind.

He appreciated the hard and untiring efforts of PTA in moving the country towards a digitized future and bringing Pakistan in the list of countries with emerging technologies exposure. He also expressed that the advent of latest technologies in Pakistan will be of great help to the local users with a massive package of new applications and facilities.
