3G and 4G technology auction will bring 1.3 billion dollars to Pakistan


Pakistan Telecommunication Authority,  PTA CEO Syed Ismail Shah has said that 1.3 billion dollars are expected to be injected in national exchequer under the 3G and 4G licences auction.

PTA chairman said that the successful bidder have to deposit 50 percent amount for issued licence and he would deposit rest of amount within five-years of maximum period. In addition to that London Inter Bank Offer Rate as well as 3 percent mark up would also apply. PTA chairman informed that the starting base line for auction is $290.50 million.

The PTA chairman also informed that a body has been formed to monitor auctioning of 3G and 4G technology.

Ismail Shah said thatPakistani mobile companies had started the trial of 3G technology in Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Lahore.

He said he along-with Minister of State Anusha Rehman, had been directly monitoring the upcoming 3G and 4G aucton. He said that 3G technology will reach the customers within three months. He said that GDP would be directly affected and increased due to use of 3G and 4G technology.

He further added that PTA would auction licences of 3G as well as 4G technology on the same day.
