The latest highlights in the number sheet issued by Pakistan Telecommunication shows that the overall user-base connected to the 3G services in Pakistan have reached its all-time highest rate of 6.3 million till December 31st, 2014
These incredible figures comprises of subscribers from all the five cellular operators in Pakistan.
The study report mentions that only in the month of December, 2014, mobile phone operators managed to allure some 1.41 million customers to 3G network.
However, Ufone’s 3G user base for December 2014 wasn’t a part in the overall total and hence the number of Ufone’s 3G subscribers was selected for November 2014.
PTA had earlier mentioned clearly the formal definition of a 3G customer is that any income producing activity on 3G data during last 90 days is entitled as an active 3G subscriber.
According to the figures from the survey, surprisingly enough, Telenor Pakistan, was leading from the front with a total user base of 2.26 million till December 2014 end. CMPak local arm, Zong was steadily making its way to the top with 1.8 million customers while 2G market giant Mobilink had been leaping at the third place 1.67 3G customers till the reported duration.
Ufone’s was the last contender in this list with reported 3G figures (from Nov 2014) were 646,949. However, it is vague that why Ufone’s user base isn’t comprised for December 2014 stats.
Pakistan’s first 4G network Zong is reported to have 2,242 4G subscribers till Dec 2014, which were 1,437 4G customers a month ago. In the 4G category, Zong is underperforming with its limited footprints all across the country.
The 4G user count of Warid was also not included in the report issued by PTA.
