3G/4G license awarding ceremony will be held on 10th May

Latest sources have confirmed that the 3G/4G license awarding ceremony is going to be held on the 10th of next month. The national regulatory body, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority will organize this auspicious event for the winning operators.

Four out of five cellular operators namely Zong, Telenor, Ufone and Mobilink were able to fetch the next generation licenses in the recent auctions. Theses successful networks are now merely waiting to get the NOC from PTA to start their 3G/4G services commercially.

In the 3G category, Mobilink, Ufone, Telenor and Zong were successful while Zong was the only operator to bag a 4G license.

PTA is likely to hold the award ceremony at the PM secretariat where Mr. Nawaz Sharif is anticipated to attend the event as guest of honor.

It is also claimed by authentic sources that the respective mobile networks are going to kick off 3G/4G services immediately in the country when they get the license on May 10th, 2014.

It might be interesting to note that Telenor and Ufone, both 3G license holders have already initiated test version of 3G facility in a couple of leading destinations all over the country.
