Chelsea left deep defender Ashley Cole suffered hamstring injury in the team’s FA cup quarter final clash against arch rivals Manchester United. The match was played at Stamford Bridge and the blues were victorious against the red devils with 1-0 at the full time, with the only goal scored by Demba Ba. Cole damaged his hamstring in the match and is likely to miss at least two weeks.
Chelsea’s manager Rafael Benitez who is looking after the affairs of the club as a part time has confirmed the injury suffered by Cole. Cole will now surely miss the team’s quarter final of the Europa League against Rubin Kazan and Sunday’s Premier League match against Sunderland. Cole only played for 21 minutes in the match and the injury forced him to stay out the rest of the match. His participation in the semi final against Manchester City in the FA Cup is in doubt.
Benitez told media that Cole may miss at least 20 matches. A fortnight is the minimum recovery time in this type of injury. Before this injury, it was Cahill who was injured and is still recovering. So Chelsea has suffered a loss in terms of defense line.
