Former Pakistan legend off spinner Saqlain Mushtaq has been hired again by Bangladesh cricket board as a spin bowling coach ahead of the team’s tour to Zimbabwe. He has been hired to work with the team for 100 days in a calendar year. Saqlain will fly to Dubai on Wednesday and will then travel to Zimbabwe from there with Bangladesh cricket team. As per the BCB statement, the contract is on a need basis and will not be applicable throughout the year. Therefore, Saqlain will not be bound to stay and travel with the team round the year.
Saqlain also served tenure as Bangladesh spin bowling coach last year for about six months from July till December. During that brief tenure, he stayed with the team in ICC T20 World Cup and in home series against West Indies. However, the team played without him against Sri Lanka tour. The first test between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh will start from 17th April. There will be five days available for training in Harare. Bangladesh had a good tour to West Indies recently in which they drew the test series. The decision to hire Saqlain again has been taken as a positive step of BCB by the players and the fans.
