Search engine giant, Google has made apologies to its user-base for the enormous shutdown of its facilities such as Google+, Gmail, Documents and Calendar yesterday. The massive outage remained for an estimated time of 50 minutes in several regions around the globe.
Google experienced a huge shutdown yesterday that resulted in the blockage of its prime services like Google+, Gmail, Documents and Calendar. The company instantly mentioned the reasons behind the blackout to be a malicious virus that ignored customer’ information demands. Google said that it feels sorry for the widespread discontinuity of its facilities lasting for nearly an hour. The affected countries worldwide comprised of Europe, North America and some parts of Asia.
Google highlighted that the discontinuation of its services started at 11:02 a.m. PST, following a false configuration insertion by the harmful malware virus at 10:55 a.m. “The false insertion was then given to the on air services for the next 15 minutes, which resulted in rejection of consumer information requests, and those facilities were then responsible for making errors,” Google’s VP of Engineering, Ben Treynor, posted on the firm’s blog.
The engineers of Google were up to the occasion and produced a fresh configuration to encounter the bug at 11:14 a.m. As sending configurations to the system needs about 15, the infected services were retrieved and users worldwide had approach to Google internet facilities by 11:30 a.m. sharp. Several subscribers were still deprived of Google’s web facilities for an additional half an hour until the issue was fixed.
Google stated in a release regarding the outage issue as,” We forward our apologies for the inconvenience caused to our valued customers by the massive outage of our services. Apart from Google, which has been a victim of enormous breakdown of its facilities, Yahoo in fact was severely criticized for its seven days massive shutdown in December, 2013.
