Microsoft will distribute free Microsoft Office to 40,000 Maltese students


Microsoft will distribute free copies of Microsoft Office to 40,000 Maltese students worth around €100, announced by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this morning. Dr Muscat was visiting to San Bastjan Qormi primary school, and announced free distribution of Microsoft copies while talking to young students using various IT systems and learning tools.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that the MCAST church schools will also benefit from the agreement. Furthermore, Microsoft will offer office software download directly onto a PC.

 Adrianna Zammit,Microsoft Malta & Cyprus Country Manager, said that three years ago MITA and Microsoft  signed agreement, spread over 5 years, under which Microsoft had to invest total of over €30 million in a number of projects in a number of fields like education, government licensing,  and establishment of a state-of-the-art Microsoft Innovation Centre.

Ms Zammit said that he is pleased to announce a €4 million investment over under this agreement. Microsoft investment will unable all local students at educational institutions free access to Microsoft Office 365.

Malta the few countries in the world where 85% students will be able to use Microsoft office free of cost.
