Pakistan has won GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2015


The big news on which every Pakistani should feel proud is that Pakistan has won the esteemed Spectrum for Mobile Broadband Award at GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2015 in a high-profile event organized today in Barcelona, Spain today.


The Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Anusha Rahman Khan, flew to Spain to collect the award on behalf of the Pakistani government, MoIT, PTA and the masterminds behind accomplishing this landmark.

The award was conferred to Pakistan in the category of “Government Mobile Excellence” for carrying on successful auctions of 3G and 4G spectrum in Pakistan in spring 2014.

The Ministry of Information Technology was able to carry out successful auction spectrum for 3G/4G facilities in Pakistan in the 1800MHz and 2100MHz frequency bands in April, last year. Since its kick off, there has been an aggressive growth recorded in the 3G services rollout process, thus offering decisive advantages to subscribers nationwide and to the national economic situation as well. It has also resulted in offering massive growth potential for technology and telecommunication industry players comprising of operators, device producers, application developers, vendors and distributors.

The abrupt widespread plan of 3G and 4G services is the driving force behind the excellence and efficiency in all sectors such as education, banking, media, health care and retailing, alongside paving the way for innovative e-services like as e-medicine and e-education in under-privileged territories of the country.
These awards for excellence were given as part of the GSMA’s yearly Ministerial Programme at Mobile World Congress (WMC).

Over than 1,200 high-profiles government and regulatory delegations from all over the globe are calling on industry moguls to negotiate peculiar regulatory matters related to innovation and development of cellular mobile communications.
