According to the recent data sheet released by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) till April this year, the overall figure of internet users in the country has crossed the 3.64 million mark with the addition of fresh 92,396 subscribers in a month. Earlier in March, the broadband user-base was 3.35 million.
As a matter of fact, the face behind this huge success was of PTCL which amassed over 0.317 million new users on their networks with support from its EvDO technology in past three months. As by April 2014, the overall population of EvDO using network subscribers has been touching the 1.72 million mark, which is nearly half (49 per cent) of market-share as far as total numbers of internet customers are concerned.
The second spot on this list is captured by DSL in terms of market-share, having nearly 1.3 million subscriptions. WiMAX-based firms continued to show their sloppy progress as they lost their share in one month, managing 5,61,089 users which were 563,400 subscriptions earlier in March 2014. Analysts are of the opinion that the growth of incredible numbers of users exponentially of PTCL and EvDo technology in Pakistan is primarily because of the flurry of exciting and attractive offers one after another.
