According to the fresh statistics report published by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), the overall number of internet users in Pakistan has crossed the highest mark of 3.64 million by the month of April, 2014. As many as 92,396 fresh connections in a month were added to the user-base. The figures were recorded till March 2014, when the total number of internet consumers was 3.35 million.

In this list, the leading contribution of these massive subscriptions was none other than the market front-runner PTCL, which amassed over 0.317 million customers on their networks with the provision of EvDO technology in past three months. The entire number of customers on EvDO networks has touched 1.72 million mark by April 2014. This accounts for nearly half (49 per cent) of market-share as far as total numbers of internet users are concerned.

DSL was listed at the 2nd spot in terms of market-share. It managed to collect almost 1.3 million connections. WiMAX companies continued to show a gloomy run in one month, thus touching 5, 61, 089 customers which was previously 563,400 users in March 2014. A number of analysts speculate that the addition of extraordinary numbers of users gives a massive boost from thanks largely due to PTCL and EvDo technology in Pakistan.
