The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has joined forces with the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) to facilitate it with electronic accessibility to its students and faculty for revealing information and knowledge of academic courses and programs.
PTCL signed a memorandum of understanding MoU which will facilitate AIOU students and teachers at subsidised rate. This deal makes the university to inter-connect with its 1.3 million students nationwide.
The MoU was penned down by AIOU Registrar Muhammad Bashir Chaudhary and PTCL Corporate Services (North) GM Zahid Mahmood at a ceremony organized at the AIOU Islamabad. AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof Nazir Ahmed Sangi along with other senior faculty members was present at this auspicious occasion.
PTCL will provide them the electronic mailbox, including e-mail addresses and collaborator for interaction among teachers and students.
Dr Sangi expressed hi feelings by saying that by undertaking the MoU, the university had converted its dream into reality to provide equal to students for collaboration with their faculty. He added that the AIOU was being established on the aim of an electronic university facilitating students with required academic information on fast-track basis.
The vice chancellor mentioned, “We have acted on our plans to provide this university with the state-of-the-art new technology.” This is a major breakthrough in empowering our students to communicate with their teachers, he said.
Tariq Suleman applauded the AIOU for its brilliant services in the field of education and assured that the PTCL will facilitate continuous and inexpensive Internet access to its students and faculty.
ICT Director Qazi Asif also addressed participants and audience about the terms and conditions of the pact and said improvements and up gradations will be made as the time goes by.
