Spain Defeat France 1 Nil; Pogba Brilliance Makes Sir Alex Regret

World Number one ranked football team Spain defeated France in the 2014 World Cup qualifying match played on Tuesday in France. Spain defeated France 1-0 and the only goal of the match was scored by Pedro. The win could have given France a lead of 5 points over Spain and would have increased their hopes of ensuring a ticket to Brazil for the world cup.

The match remained evenly poised as both the teams had chances to score goals, but the match remained goal less for most of the duration. However, Christophe Jallet’s lack of presence in one of the attacks from Xavi cost France the match. Despite the loss, the man to watch was former Manchester United player Paul Pogba who now plays for Juventus. He displayed great class and maturity and hardly looked troubled by the Spanish forwards. That’s probably why Sir Alex never wanted Pogba to go to Juventus. Pogba can now be matched with some of the great players in the business like Iniesta, Xavi, Sergio Busquets and David Silva. Pogba was transferred to Turin in 2012 with a deal of close to £1 million. When he left Manchester United, Sir Alex was full of praise for the young player, admiring his talent and physique.

France will next play away games in Georgia and Belarus while another home game against Finland. Even if France fails to top the group and unable to qualify for world cup finals in Brazil automatically, they can still make it to the finals by becoming one of the eight best runners up. If France qualifies for world cup finals, they will be the dark horses of the event.
