Warid Telecom rolled out Biometric System on PTA diractives

Warid Telecom has been able to roll out the PTA directed Biometric Verification System (BVS) to its network all over Pakistan. Warid Telecom started the deployment of BVS network at its cellular business outlets in Karachi back in December, 2013. Prior to this, the installation plan was expanded to additional 12 Warid business centers and 358 customer outlets all over Sindh and Balochistan.

In the second round, almost 2000 devices were deployed at customer facilities across Karachi and Balochistan. The third and final phase of this BVS roll out scheme started on the 31st of July, Warid made sure that its network works well in line with the orders of the regulator as it installed 10,000 devices to its entire franchises all over the country.

Warid’s head of sales, Mr. Amer Aman, stated on this accomplishment as “Warid has made it sure that its progress complies with the PTA’s requirements of deployment of the advance biometric authentication suite. We have been able to cover our retailers nationwide and finished the entire installation of BVS. The extension of Warid Biometric Verification System in across the country depicts our strong dedication to offer the most readily available and convenient user experience at the door step.

Not to forget, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority had declared it time and again that without the practice of BVS on retailers, no SIM can be purchased all over Pakistan starting from August 1st, 2014. The regulator also added that SIM activations via dialing 789 have been discarded.

The massive growth in the telecom era has aggressively benefited Pakistan as far as economic growth is concerned. The authentication process of SIM card sales will assist in managing the challenges faced by users and further aid Warid’s valued customers.
