Zong today successfully presented its latest biometric verification system installed for new Sales at a franchise in Karachi.
Dr. Syed Ismail Shah, Chairman PTA, was the chief guest at this ceremony and was given a branded Zong SIM by verifying his thumb print through biometric verification with NADRA’s data.
Zong, alongside all other mobile networks, will fulfill the installation process of this latest biometric verification solution in Karachi at company’s run Customer Service Centres and Franchises by not later than December 20th, next month.
The rest of the installation process will be completed nationwide afterwards.
As the installation of biometric verification system at company based service centre and franchises is carried out, sales’ stores can operate with similar verification systems all over the country.
According to PTA’s SOP, a user must show his/her CNIC to network’s representative. He will then be asked to represent the thumb print which will be competed with his NADRA’s data in real time.
By using this technique, no subscriber can get a new SIM on fake or irrelevant CNICs.
Chairman PTA, while addressing the event, commented that regulator and mobile operators are leaving no stone upturned to mitigate unauthorized SIMs in Pakistan.
Mr. Shah added that telecom sector is currently operating to verify new sales only. Besides that, all existing activated SIMs can also be checked some time late to completely finish unregistered SIMs from the country.
The entire cellular sector was directed to install biometric verification system on their franchises in Karachi by not later than November 30.
Ufone, on the other hand, said in a press release that it is all set to unveil the biometric verification system in its sales outlets in Karachi on30th November.
