Australia Surrenders to Indian Spinners ; Go Down 0-2

It was fourth day of the second test between India and Australia and the visitors had a huge task ahead as they were trailing 192 runs with two wickets already down. However, once again, Australian batting failed to find a solution to the lethal spin attack of the hosts. Few expected that the collapse would be so quick, the remaining 8 batsmen could only add 57 odd runs to suffer an innings defeat and go down 0-2 in the four test series.

The day started with Australia at 74 runs on board with 8 wickets remaining. Adding only 19 more runs to the total, the first wicket of the day fell down. Shane Watson edged a leg sided delivery of Ishant Sharma straight to Dhoni who took a simplest of the catches. Ravindra Jadeja then got rid of skipper Clarke with a spectacular delivery. He was out for 16 runs. After that, it was a matter of one an a half hour that all the remaining wickets fell. Only Ed Cowan showed some resistance, playing the spinners cautiously and scored 44 runs by facing 150 deliveries. However, his resistance was ended by Jadeja. He later got rid of Moises Henriques by throwing the ball from cover to run him out. Later, Ashwin got rid of Maxwell, Wade and Pattinson to get eighth five wicket haul in 11 home Tests. The entire Australian team got out for 131 runs and suffered an innings and 135 runs defeat. The win was 22nd for Dhoni as captain of India who has become the most successful test skipper of his country. He will be a relieved man and so his team mates who had faced much criticism over their performances against England in home series and against Australia in the away series last year. The third match will be played in Mohali on March 14. India leads the series 2-0. The score board is as follows:

India 503 (Pujara 204, Vijay 167, Maxwell 4-127) beat Australia 237 for 9 dec (Clarke 91, Wade 62, Jadeja 3-33, Bhuvneshwar 3-53) and 131 (Ashwin 5-63, Jadeja 3-33) by an innings and 135 runs
