Zong plans to expand 4G to 3000 sites in 2015


At the eve of training session for PTA officials at Zong Headquarters in Islamabad, Zong chairman and executive Mr. Liu Dianfeng has claimed that the cellular operator is going to equip itself with more than 3,000 4G and 5,500 3G cell sites by the end of 2015.

Mr. Liu stated that his firm has so far installed over 500 4G cell sites all over Pakistan whereas another 3700 cell sites are now 3G ready.

Zong executive said that they have plunged more than USD 300 million dollars in Pakistan to endorse and launch upcoming cellular technologies, 4G in particular; despite there is not much user-base on the latest 4G supported devices in the country. However, it’s nourishing at a healthy speed to tempt Zong to invest more cash in the lucrative 4G ecosystem.

Mr. Liu added that Pakistani cellular untapped market has a massive potential for data services, peculiarly due to wired services not fulfilling the market demands. In this scenario, where mobile broadband is going be the next level of communication in the country, Zong is committed to come up with sensible solutions to fulfill its user needs by launching a number of facilities such as a series of dongle and wingle products in the coming months.

The chairman emphasized on the quality of services for data services. He said that telecom networks such first consider offering unmatched quality and services to their subscribers rather than setting benchmarks for themselves. Mr. Liu added that they are also considering making deals with popular internet firms for getting them hosted on Zong’s tele-host in order to make sure that the company offers transparent end-to-end connectivity and quality of service to its valued clients.
